Field work Reflection

In my field work, I attended the Mary Hayes center in Douglas Georgia. I actually have a job there currently. I work with 1st graders mainly.  What I have to do there is make sure that the kids that I am assigned to have their homework done before they go home. Each student has their own pace to which they complete their work. At the beginning of my work shift, I have to make sure that I have everything planned out for my students who don’t have any homework.  Then I am to make sure that all the students get on the bus safely and get inside the building. Once the students are all in and seated, we have to make sure they are quiet and getting ready to eat. After they are quiet and seated, then we start feeding them their food/snack. Once they are finished eating, each class as to go to their classrooms and start on their homework. In our classrooms, each of the workers have to make sure that our desk are straight and all the room is swept and kept clean. If all of our class is finished with their homework, we are to take them outside so they can burn their energy off.

I have been working there since October of 2015 and I am still currently working there. I have completed all the 10 hours that are required for this course. What I have learned since I have been at the Mary Hayes is that every student has their own way of learning their material. The students at the center have really showed me that I am going to really enjoy being a teacher. Since I got to the center and got to know the students, I have grown attached to the students there. I have enjoyed working at this center.
