In lesson one, we had to watch a video. The video was on the whales at seaworld. We then had to answer some question, mainly our opinion, on the video. The question mainy asked our opinion on the concepts shown in the video.

Lesson 1

Do you agree with the concepts described in the video? Why or why not?

Yes, I do agree with the concepts that are in the video. The concepts can be put to use in the work place within the school systems. The students and faculty have to trust you in order for everything to work out.

Which one do you agree with the most? Why?

I think that I agree with making sure that the whales trust you. It’s just like within the classroom, the students are supposed to be able to trust the teacher with any question that they might have about anything.

•In general terms, how could you implement the concepts in your classroom? Provide specifics.

I would be sure to let my students know that they could come to me for any question that they might have. I would also make sure that I would redirect my students if they were to be doing anything wrong and to show them praise when they were doing right.

•How important to you is building trust and establishing relationships? Explain.

It is very important to me to build good trust and relationship with the people around me. I want to make sure that I am doing my job right and to make sure that if I see someone doing something right to show praise.

•The video states that it is important to find out what motivates the individual whales. Would this be the same for your students? Why?

I think that it would be the same for the students within the classroom. You have to learn how each student learns. Each child will learn differently than the others.

•Do you think that it is important to keep things interesting for your students? How would you do this for your students?

I do think that you have to keep things interesting for the students. I would try to do different things every week to keep their attention up so they won’t get bored by just hearing my voice.

•Describe "redirection" the best you can - you might have to do some Internet research

Redirection means to give direction for an alternate destination. Which to me means that if one of my students were to do something incorrectly, I could “redirect” them to do the right thing.

Summary:

I really enjoyed doing this lesson. I like how the Whale done video could be related to working in a school system.

Research Question:

What are some ways that teachers could keep their students interested in their lesson during the class time?

Research Analysis:

In the research that I found, it talks about 5 different things to make sure the students are focused in on the lesson during the class time. One thing is that when we as teachers are teaching, we should try to put what we are teaching in a form that relates to real life. This way some students may learn better if they can see that it has happened in real life. Each student learns a different way so we should make sure that we know how each student learns.

Another way that we could make sure that the students are focused in on the lesson is to let them make some choices. How the students would make the choices would be if they were to be put into groups menu said in the website. According to the website, all the students may participate in the lesson if they were put into groups.

Research Summary:

I enjoyed doing the research over this topic. The research I found was very informative. I like how it gave me different ideas on how to keep the lessons interesting.
